Dr. Boss will never forget the three month old patient she diagnosed with a tumor in the back of her eye. The child was immediately referred to Johns Hopkins where the eye was removed. That diagnosis and referral ended up saving the baby’s life. That is just one of the many pediatric patients Dr. Boss cares for on a daily basis.

Dr. Boss attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry Degree from New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts and completed her internships at the Joslin Diabetic Center, Boston Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic, South Boston Health Center and The New England Eye Institute.

Doctor Boss is Board Certified through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, International Board Association of Examiners in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease and The North East Regional Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Boss began practicing optometry in 1996. In addition to her training and experience in general optometry, she has a special interest in pediatrics and patients with intellectual and learning disabilities. Dr. Boss also cares for many of the patients in the practice with language barriers through translators. All of Dr. Boss’s young patients know that when she reaches into the pocket of her white lab coat she may be holding a little toy or a bright flashing smiley face to brighten up their visit.

Prior to joining AEI, Dr. Boss was Director of Pediatrics at a practice in Vestal, New York. She is a National “Infant See” physician. She was inspired to pursue the field of pediatrics given her strong family values and her passion to give children the best chance in life with good sight. In order to do this, she recommends that the first eye exam for all children should be at three years of age.

Dr. Boss served as the president of the South Central Optometric Association from 2002-2006. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Optometric Retinal Society, American Academy of Optometry, and Vision USA. She has received the Outstanding Student Achievement Award, Education Advancement scholarship, Educational Opportunity Scholarship and Exceptional Scholar and athlete award. She also enjoys being active in the community through vision screenings and lecturing.

Dr. Boss lives in Maryland with her children and they enjoy going to the beach, horseback riding and traveling.  Dr. Boss is licensed in Maryland and Delaware and practices in Salisbury, Ocean Pines and the Laurel, Delaware office.
